Shot Through the Heart

Happy Valentine’s Day to those who celebrate, and happy Tuesday to everyone else. :)

I was looking for some good Valentine-inspired graphics for my staff meeting agenda and came across this beauty from Etsy:

Which of course led me to start singing this song in my head all day long:

You’re welcome, internet.

We’re in business!

I’ve been playing around on Etsy and working up the courage to open my own shop for awhile now. After quite the productive weekend, I’m happy to announce that my shop doors are open! (figuratively speaking, anyway).

There are only a handful of items in the shop right now, but by next Monday there should be a bunch more. I’ve been working feverishly to finish some products, bring some ideas from my head to paper, and then of course to photograph and list some fabulous items I have in my possession. I’m super excited to begin this next phase of my plan for world domination- will you join me on this magic carpet ride?

For now, I’ve got some ephemera sets listed. Some button sets are on the way, followed by some custom designed holiday cards + wraps and in January, you’ll be able to buy my books. Who’s excited about this awesomeness? This girl. I hope you will be, too!

This was a fun image I found of rainbow-assorted buttons. Isn’t it pretty? You might see something like this in my shop soon enough….

In other news, I looked around for some new fonts to feature today but I only found a couple that I really liked enough to endorse. I’ll hold on to them and keep looking for next week’s Typeface Tuesday! Until next time, ta-ta!

Washi Wonderland

If you’ve ever seen my layouts you know that I love me some washi tape almost as much as I love my mists & spray paints. Love, love, LOVE!

I spent some time on Etsy last week and as a result, my wallet’s a bit lighter and my collection of worldly possessions that much stronger. I did a lot of monitor-shopping (like window shopping, but on the computer!) at the Etsy main page looking for tapes. There are some interesting products, indeed! However, I eventually landed at my favorite seller’s marketplace: Pretty Tape and had a look around at her billions of rolls of washi. After awhile I found myself with a cart full of tape and an excited grin on my face.

Good news, friends! Today I was in Washi Wonderland. Check out this awesomeness:

This is what I got from Pretty Tape, along with a cool heart stamp. Love it!

Then I was overjoyed to find the Amy Tangerine mix tapes at my doorstep to add to the excitement. This is what true happiness looks like:

I’m particularly excited about the two rolls of wide tape that I got. Woot!

If you’ll excuse me, I’m about to go play with some paper. Cheers.

Art Journal fun

A few weeks ago, I began a project for a friend that has since become oh-so-much more. I wanted to make her an art journal and I jumped in, not knowing what it would become, but letting the materials speak for themselves. In the time since I’ve started it, I’ve become nearly addicted to working on it. The journal is a perfect combination of scrapbooking, doodles and fun and I love it all.

Apparently, I’m not the only one. I am still astonished and incredibly surprised by the amount of support I’ve gotten on this project and I can’t wait to have them available for everyone to own. I’ve started on the basics of construction, trying to work out the kinks so I can begin mass production. I haven’t even put a sample up yet and I already have 6 pre-orders/requests. Thanks everyone! Here’s a glimpse at the very, very basic form in the beginning:

The goal is to have 100 of these little puppies done by the end of the week, and then I’ll start incorporating some of the doodled pages and patterened papers into them. Before long, they’ll all have covers and will start to look a bit like this:

Then I can start working on making each one individual and unique. Get excited! The final step is to make the doodles pretty with my watercolors. Fun stuff!

Once I give the original journal to my friend, I will post detailed pictures of it. I just don’t want to ruin the surprise before she has the chance to see it live. :)

Thanks again for all the encouragement, and keep an eye on my Etsy page in the next few weeks. Cheers!

Bringing Awesome to Scrapbooking

For the final day of Awesome Week, I scoured the web for something awesome to do with scrapbooking. Well, I think I might be incapable of doing a successful web search- I never know what to type and I never seem to get the results I was hoping for.

I did, however, find my new favorite Etsy shop: The Jelly Bean Joint - it’s definitely full of awesome goodness!

The owner is an artist after my own heart. I love her style, love her stuff- this is a shop in line with the style of drawings that I tend to do, but never bother to turn into anything, and the same whimsy awesomeness I like to use in my scrapping. I’m thinking that I might have to buy these journaling spots:

You can see more by visiting the etsy store or her blog.

Next up, I bring you Awesome Scrapbook Layouts on Pinterest. There are many things to love on that pinboard, including things like this:

What kind of awesome will YOU create?
